KASTURI JEWELLERS · TERRA ATELIER

Tilak Nagar, New Delhi

project description

The brief for this Tilak Nagar jewellery boutique was precise: not a larger showroom, but a more considered one. The question underneath it was harder — how do you make a client feel hosted rather than sold to, and how does the architecture make that possible? The answer was to abandon the conventional retail typology entirely. No bright white light, no mirrored walls, no glass towers. Instead, a private sanctuary where every surface recedes into earth and shadow, and the jewellery becomes the only thing that glows. The spatial logic is built around sequence and compression. A controlled arrival narrows before it opens, building anticipation before a single piece is seen. The curved oxidised timber counter runs as the ceremonial spine of the salon, with a continuous carved jungle relief wall rising behind it. A life-size bronze giraffe anchors the far corner. The private consultation lounge sits apart — lower, quieter, designed for decisions made slowly. Nothing was added that did not earn its place.
